On November 1, 2026, new regulations regarding nationally protected species will take effect. The list of species will be shorter, but its composition will change. New species will be added, others will be removed from the list, and the remaining species will be classified into four protection levels.
During the webinar, Ecogain’s attorney Josefin Ohlson and species conservation expert Kaj Svahn will explain what the new regulations entail. They will focus on individual species and provide concrete examples of how the new protections differ from the current ones, and what those differences mean for those planning or operating a business.
They also discuss how operations may be affected by the need to update the species list at regular intervals and what this might mean for different species and in various industries, including, for example, lengthy permitting processes.
This webinar is ideal for anyone working with environmental issues, permitting, project development, land use, and sustainability in the energy, infrastructure, industrial, forestry, or other land-use sectors.
