Ecogain is now partnering with Knowit to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop this year's edition of Ecogain's Biodiversity Index, a report that highlights how the largest companies in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region report their impact on biodiversity. New for this year's report is the inclusion of the Baltic countries.
Ecogain's Biodiversity Index has attracted increasing interest over the past two years, and now Ecogain is investing in AI to meet the international demand for the report. The AI program is being developed in close collaboration between Knowit and Ecogain, with the aim of streamlining data collection and enabling an even greater scope of data for next year's biodiversity index, both in terms of number of companies and countries.
Knowit is committed to a sustainable and humane society, and there is no better partner organization for this collaboration. The collaboration will provide us with unprecedented opportunities to expand the scope of the report and effectively map larger parts of the business community internationally.
- Fredrik Höök, CEO Ecogain
The issue of biodiversity is now more relevant than ever to corporate sustainability agendas. The World Economic Forum and WWF have highlighted the major risks posed by biodiversity loss, including to business. Many financial institutions are now using the data from previous years' Biodiversity Indexes in their risk assessment and biodiversity dialogues with clients and investors.
Last year's Biodiversity Index clearly showed that the issue of biodiversity is prioritized far below the issue of climate change, despite the fact that the two are interlinked and despite the fact that biodiversity loss poses major business risks. We hope that this year's version of the Biodiversity Index will inspire many companies to start transforming their business with biodiversity in mind. It's about future-proofing your business.
- Anders Enetjärn, founder of Ecogain and initiator of the Ecogain Biodiversity Index.
The Ecogain Biodiversity Index 2021 will be launched on May 20 on the occasion of Biodiversity Day.
