The sun is warming, the snow is giving way to buds and green leaves and the spring birds are starting to find their way back - and with that, this year's inventory season is starting in earnest. This week we are conducting the first nature value inventory of the season, and for the past few weeks our bird experts have rarely been seen at their offices.
"It's an intense time that starts now," says Sofia Lund, who is responsible for our nature value inventories. "It's still a bit too early to be able to identify all aspects of an area's nature value, but in May we start the season in earnest in southern Sweden and in June we start in the northern part of the country. We are planning hard to ensure that all booked assignments can be carried out during the time of year that best suits each individual inventory.
An important knowledge base
A nature value inventory is an important knowledge base in all types of land development and nature conservation projects. It is therefore crucial that the work is carried out thoroughly.
- We often work according to the national standard for nature value inventories (SIS 199000:2014), which we helped to develop. But we are flexible and adapt the methodology to the specific needs of the individual assignment," explains Sofia.
Do your projects require inventories?
For those projects that require inventories during this year's field season, now is the time to get in touch. We inventory and help you interpret the results and move forward in the process - for example, by highlighting what may be decisive in a permit review and guiding you in how to handle these issues.
