With over thirty years as an ornithologist and nearly twenty years of experience working with the Environmental Code, Thomas Hultquist possesses both in-depth knowledge of birds and extensive experience in environmental impact assessments. We are now pleased to welcome him as head of Ecogain’s bird team.

Thomas has a degree in environmental science and has worked in environmental oversight and permitting at both the municipal and state levels. For the past ten years, he has been an environmental consultant, working on species and natural resource inventories, environmental impact statements, and permits for material quarries.

He has also served as an expert in species protection assessments involving birds for onshore and offshore wind power projects, and has led permit cases from the consultation phase through to the main hearing in the Land and Environment Court of Appeal.

What experience, above all, are you bringing with you to Ecogain?

“I’ve worked both in public administration and as a consultant. That gives me an understanding of how government agencies operate and what that means for our projects. As consultants, we also need to be able to balance the client’s objectives with an objective assessment, so that both the client and the reviewing agency have a solid basis for decision-making,” says Thomas.

Birds are a big part of his life even outside of work. Thomas is the chair of BirdLife Småland and conducts several bird counts each year in his free time.

Welcome to Ecogain, Thomas!
