With Ecogain, you get support throughout the entire reassessment process - from strategic planning to implementation and documentation. We combine legal and ecological expertise with hydrological competence and long experience from similar reviews across the country.
How Ecogain works with hydropower reassessment
We offer a wide range of services supporting both reviews of existing licenses and new licensing processes for unlicensed activities. Our interventions include:
- Review and permit process
We support you through the entire review process for licensed activities, as well as the entire permit process - including application documents, consultations, investigations and environmental impact assessments (EIA) based on the requirements set depending on the process.
- Water expertise and hydrological analyses
Studies that ensure appropriate documentation for hydropower reassessments. Our experts analyze ecological impacts, propose environmental improvement measures and identify solutions that balance ecology and electric power.
- Natura 2000, protected areas and species protection
We analyze the impact on protected areas, habitats and species, and develop proposals for protection and compensation measures according to current practice.
- Reindeer husbandry issues
Ecogain has leading expertise in reindeer husbandry issues, which includes the identification of compensatory grazing lands to enhance both biodiversity and reindeer grazing.
- Environmental impacts and compensatory measures
We investigate encroachments and impacts on the environment and assess the need for protection and compensation measures. The data is used to support decisions and considerations during the assessment process.
- Environmental assessments and biodiversity
We carry out environmental assessments, nature value inventories and species protection surveys, and propose measures that strengthen nature values and meet the requirements of the Environmental Code.
Pooled expertise for legally certain reviews
Ecogain offers combined permit expertise with lawyers, ecologists and environmental experts who together have worked with some of Sweden's largest and most complex environmental assessment processes. Our lawyers have backgrounds in land and environmental courts and law firms, with a deep understanding of case law and regulatory processes.
We are present all over the country, and our local knowledge is an important asset in our work. Through experienced project management and close cooperation between our competencies, we produce well-founded documentation that supports effective, sustainable and legally secure reviews of hydropower.
