Njordr Offshore Wind AB is investigating the possibility of establishing wind power in the Swedish economic zone in the Baltic Sea. Up to 300 wind turbines are planned, which, because of their location outside the Stockholm area, have good potential to help meet the growing need for renewable energy in a region that already has difficulty producing its own electricity and where the opportunities for land-based wind power are limited.
Ecogain has been engaged to take overall responsibility for the consultation process for the project. This means that an obstacle assessment has been carried out, a consultation circle consisting of various actors and stakeholders has been defined and that a consultation document has been drawn up with information about the project. Ecogain has also handled the consultation statements received and compiled the consultation report, which describes all information about the consultation. The consultation ended in February 2022.

If Njordr Offshore Wind chooses to proceed with the project, in-depth investigations will follow, mainly regarding seabed conditions, natural values, bird life and marine archaeology. The investigations, together with views from the consultation, will form the basis for the final design of the wind power facility and form the basis for the environmental impact assessment that is produced as a basis for the permit application.
If the project is approved, it has the overall potential to meet the equivalent of the Stockholm region's current (2022) total energy needs. The renewably produced electricity contributes to the electrification of society and also to replacing energy sources with high carbon dioxide emissions.
