OX2 develops and sells wind and solar farms and is one of the leading companies in the development of renewable energy in Europe. The company currently has operations in Sweden, Finland, Poland, France, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Italy and Romania with headquarters in Stockholm.
Ecogain was hired to lead and carry out the environmental assessment of an area adjacent to the village of Rambo in Västerbotten County, which OX2 identified as suitable for wind power. The assignment included the entire permit process under the Environmental Code with consultation, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and many types of supporting studies. Ecogain project managed the work and supported OX2 in assessments and trade-offs, based on the documentation that was continuously produced.
Thank you very much for the great cooperation and good job! It has been a true pleasure to cooperate and great structure
- Lovisa Håkansson and Anders Nillson, Project Manager OX2
With all the data as a basis, Ecogain carried out the environmental assessment and produced an EIA, based on the consideration hierarchy, which, among other things, led to great consideration being given to biodiversity, both at species and ecosystem level. Of all the environmental aspects assessed, the result was positive consequences for the aspects of natural resources/utilization of wind and climate and environmental effects, and small negative or insignificant for the others.
If approved, the Rambo wind farm will be able to produce 475-600 GWh of renewable electricity per year, which corresponds to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of around 285 000 - 360 000 tons per year, household electricity for around 110 000 homes per year or the consumption of 230 000 - 290 000 electric cars per year.
