Porsche is the German car brand that has become known for its lightweight sports cars. Like several other car brands, Porsche conducts extensive winter testing in the Norrbotten hinterland. Car testing is crucial for employment in small municipalities such as Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur.
Porsche faced challenging completion requirements in its permit application for the new car test facility. Ecogain was commissioned by Porsche to find ways to adapt the facility based on all the steps in the internationally accepted mitigation hierarchy - avoid, minimize, restore and compensate.
Considerate design and environmental review in court
The hierarchy of considerations is part of the Ecogain toolbox. We were therefore able to apply measures that would allow the new facility to be better adapted to nature and its conditions on site. We applied all the steps of the mitigation hierarchy; avoid damage, minimize damage, restore within the site and finally compensate for residual damage.
Ecogain's process manager in environmental assessment was involved as expert support in the environmental assessment in the Land and Environment Court. The result of Ecogain's work was that Porsche received its permit for the business.
