A new 400 kV overhead line along the Ekhyddan - Nybro - Hemsjö section is planned to reduce the risk of power outages in the region. The line will be connected to an existing interconnector from Nybro to Lithuania and will relieve and reinforce the transmission network in the region. The line is on the EU's list of projects of common interest (PCI).
Ecogain has been commissioned by Svenska Kraftnät to carry out inventories along the nine miles and to drive the licensing project forward with the preparation of consultation documents, background studies and environmental impact assessments.
In parallel with the preparation of the environmental impact assessment, N2000 areas and nature reserves are managed with field visits and suitable compensation areas are identified. The action plan that is compiled will be an important document in the procurement process and during construction to ensure that the measures specified in the EIA are implemented.
To simplify the process, Ecogain is also preparing a story map, with targeted simple language reinforced by clear map and image language.
After several consultations with several study corridors, the application is submitted and in September 2021 the government announces that the route has been granted a concession.
