Björkvattnet Wind Farm is a wind farm located in Ragunda municipality in Jämtland. Here, Ecogain has conducted annual environmental reports, but also led a follow-up program on how reindeer husbandry is affected.
The wind farm in Björkvattnet consists of 33 turbines and has a capacity of 175 MW. The project started in 2018 and Ecogain has, through its environmental reporting, ensured that the operations have been conducted in accordance with applicable conditions and permits.
The follow-up program for impacts on reindeer husbandry is part of the operator's control program. The follow-up has been developed in consultation with the affected Sámi village and the county administrative board. The reason for this is to identify the actual consequences that may affect the Sami villages in question. The follow-up program runs for four years with continuous controls.
An interim result will be compiled after two years. The reports will be submitted to the supervisory authority and to the Sami villages concerned. Similarly, follow-up studies of birds of prey have been carried out in consultation with regional ornithological expertise.
