A breeding bird survey carried out by Ecogain's bird experts provides you with a comprehensive decision-making basis that shows which species regularly breed in the project area - and how the establishment can be planned to meet legal requirements and nature values.
How a breeding bird inventory works
We conduct systematic line counts and territory mapping during the breeding season, usually in May-June. The inventory includes both common and protected species, with a particular focus on red-listed species and species listed in Annex 1 of the Species Protection Ordinance.
The methodology can be adapted to the nature of the area and the requirements of the authorities, for example with additional surveys of breeding woodpeckers in spring. The result will be a list of observed species and territories, with GIS-based documentation and analysis of whether the project area is used for breeding or as a flyway and foraging area.
Benefits of breeding bird surveys
The inventory provides a broad basis for decision-making, which reduces the risk of late supplementary requirements and increased costs.
- Mapping of common and protected species in the area.
- Documentation that meets the requirements of the authorities in the authorization process.
- Possibility of early identification and adaptation of areas of consideration.
- Greater certainty in planning and implementation.
