Our experts validate red-listed fungi

ArtDatabanken has hired two of our species experts, Sofia Lund and Tony Svensson, to validate findings of red-listed fungi in the Species Portal. The purpose is to give the Swedish Biodiversity Information Centre's red listing committee better conditions to analyze the species' threat and set the appropriate red listing level - a work that is crucial to preserve our biodiversity.

The species portal is part of SLU

The Swedish Species Information Center is part of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and works, among other things, to red list threatened species and to collect, store, protect and make available data on species findings in the Artportalen database. It is open to anyone to report findings to the Art Portal, but to improve the quality of findings in the system, the Swedish Species Information Center also appoints expert validators who review the data and assess their credibility.

Creates a more accurate picture of the distribution in the country

Quality review of the group of fungi has long been requested - and Sofia and Tony have now started the extensive work that will continue throughout the spring. To begin with, they will validate one finding per county to create a more accurate picture of the red-listed fungi's distribution in the country.
