OX2 has initiated a large-scale solar power project in Kogshult, Sjöbo municipality, and intends to apply for a voluntary environmental permit under the Environmental Code. The project, which covers just under 250 hectares of land, is expected to produce over 150 GWh on an annual basis, equivalent to the annual household electricity consumption of 30,000 homes.
In Skåne, we have a ratio of electricity production to electricity consumption of 1 to 4.7, i.e. we consume 4.7 times more electricity than we produce. More precisely, we produce 2,671 GWh of electricity and consume 12,463 GWh of electricity (Statistics Sweden, 2020). From a regional self-sufficiency perspective, Skåne is therefore in a bad position. A solar park of this size would theoretically correspond to as much as 7% (200 GWh) of Skåne's electricity production and thus make a real impact on Skåne's energy balance.

OX2 has a goal for the project of great consideration for and creation of good conditions for biodiversity. Ecogain has been commissioned to assist OX2 with expertise on biodiversity and in the permit process, and has begun work on the design of the project area, inventories and in-depth investigations and preparation of delimitation consultations.
The issue of biodiversity conservation is important and highly topical. It is a pleasure to work with OX2, which has recognized this and wants to make a difference by taking the issue seriously and working in a positive direction for biodiversity.
