During the industry organization Svemin's autumn meeting at Nalen in Stockholm on 18 November, Swedish Mining Innovation awarded its annual prize for initiatives that are of great importance to mining and innovation in Sweden.
The winner of the Swedish Mining Innovation Award 2021 was Hybrit. But during the award ceremony, the jury revealed that they also decided to award an inspirational prize to Mining with Nature, the mining industry's biodiversity roadmap developed by Ecogain on behalf of Svemin.
The jury's motivation: "By highlighting a global challenge and rallying the industry around a common issue that is critical for a future sustainable planet, it shows in an exemplary and inspiring way how basic industry can and must work on a broad front to minimize its footprint. The project is unique and the first of its kind in the world. This year's Inspiration Award goes to Mining with Nature - the mining industry's biodiversity roadmap."
Mining with Nature was one of three finalists competing for the title of Swedish Mining Innovation Award 2021. The other two were Retenua AB for their robust solution emitrace® that increases safety around autonomous vehicles underground, and Hybrit who took home the prize for the world's first hydrogen-reduced iron sponge.
